First off… if you, like me have been chilled out about your properties and taking the lovely steady income from properties for granted, prepare to be upset. Robbing is back!!! And, like the New York properties page, it has had a bit of an overhaul (presumably why it was away in the first place).

1) How to get to Robbing: Check out this screenshot on the right (click to enlarge). Click on the Fight Button from the Information Bar at the top of the Mafia Wars page (notice the wee yellow speech bubble bouncing playfully above the Fight button? If the answer is no, you’re either not in New York (in Mafia Wars) or are reading this a significant amount of time in the future). Notice beneath the Mafia Fight Strength information bar the second option has been enabled and is entitled “Robbing”. Click here. You are presented with a selection of properties to rob, the strength of the Mafia who own them and the stamina required to rob each property (the number next to the little handgun pic). There is also a relative difficulty indicator (hard (red), medium (orange) or easy (green)) above the individual properties. If you think your Mafia can take their Mafia, then click the red “Rob” button beneath the property you want to rob. If you want to refresh this list, click the Get New Targets button at the top left hand side of the Mafia Wars Robbing window (this will cost you 9 stamina points, though). See the image to the right (click to enlarge)
2) What do I need to fight? Well Robbing uses stamina points but can be rather more lucrative than attacking weaker individuals randomly. You’ll need a decent Mafia. It’s in your interests now to grow your Mafia family for this reason. Different properties require different numbers of Mafia to help you. The bigger your Mafia, the more likely you are to have the high level crew to win every time. You’ll need loads of weapons, armour, vehicles, boosts and relevant loot drops to give your Mafia the edge.
The outcomes:

If you lose, Zynga say:
Why did I lose?
Your robbing score is determined by your attack skill plus the combined attack strength of one weapon, armor, and vehicle item for each mafia member that you bring to fight.
You can get better at robbing by:
* Growing your mafia
* Increasing your attack skill
3) How am I doing? Notice the progress indicator in the top right hand side of the robbing window. You start at level 1 and have to complete 10 successful robberies to progress.
4) Damage limitation from people robbing my properties: Be sure to collect income from your properties regularly and pay attention to when your more lucrative properties such as your mega casinos or uptown hotels are due to pay out. This income will be sapped if you leave it too long as it will be ripe for robbing.
That’s all for now. I’ll try to make time to write a more detailed guide if I think it’s necessary once I’ve got to grips with the new system myself.
Good luck!
Don Jon
